How to take good photos with no time, no budget AND kids running around.
Recently I had a bit of a Q&A marketing question and this question came through from Anastasia!
... and I feel it in my bones!
It’s a constant struggle but here are a few things that helped me.
1. Batch create that content.
You know how much I love batch creating content. Taking photos is no different! Usually I line up and make all my orders in one go. (Or, more likely, as many as I can with little ones pitching in to “help” 😂) then I gather them together. Before I package them, I take photos of them all together.
2. Natural light is best
When kids need some outside time, take all your orders outside or if you have room with natural light, open the blinds. Do you have a nice hedge, brick wall or plant that could be your background! Perfect.
Hold up your item in front of said hedge/wall and see next tip.
3. Portrait mode
If you have an iPhone - Portrait and Live Photo mode are your best friends.
Portrait mode
Portrait mode blurs your background and makes your item the focus. Usually you would need a DSLR camera to do this! Tap on your subject while in portrait mode.
Exhibit A:
Live Photo
You can focus on Live Photo too by clicking your product while in this mode. But the bonus here is that you can upload the same image to your stories or a reel as a boomerang.
See here 😉
4. Can’t get outside?
Hold up your product in front of a white wall. Done!

5. If you just can’t get outside, which is a very real challenge with kids:

Is thanks to this whiteboard 😂 Thanks @kmart 😂
The white board also makes an appearance here 🙌🏻
And here, I got an extra two minutes to set up this photo with some make up! 😂
You can also use this cardstock also from Kmart, as a background too!
Pretty much any plain background will do. Like this photo, is my son’s play table from IKEA 😂
6. If you can, take your products out and about with you.
This bottle went sight seeing!
And this keychain too:
Hope these help!
